Unlimited power for one factory
The nation is reeling under the lengthening spells of load-shedding. But, there is one exception — Everest Paper Mills in Dhanusha — that is enjoying a constant supply of power 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
“The facility has been provided as per directions from ‘above’”, said officials of Janakpur branch of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
“It is a mystery how privileges are being provided to only one industry at a time when the people throughout the nation are facing load-shedding,” locals grumbled.
EPM consumes 30 per cent of the total power supply to the district. TNEA has been providing 1250 KW of power to EPM every day. Chief of Janakpur NEA branch, Raj Dev Mishra, said his office has been providing only 30 per cent of total power requirement of the mill. Asked about the hows and whys of the favour accorded them, mill officials declined to comment.
