According to the Everest Summiteers Association, Yeti Airlines will provide special discounts on air tickets for Everest climbers affiliated with the association and their families. The association's President, Maya Sherpa, and Yeti Airlines' Chief Commercial Officer, Yubaraj Bista, signed an agreement formalizing the initiative.
Similarly, HAMS Hospital will offer up to a 50% discount on medical services for world record-holding climbers and a 30% discount for their families, as recommended by the association. The agreement was signed by President Sherpa and HAMS Hospital CEO Binod Kumar Dhungel.
The signing event was attended by Vice President Dibas Pokhrel and General Secretary Shiva Bahadur Sapkota from the Everest Summiteers Association.
The association, which represents Everest climbers, was established 25 years ago. Since 2008, it has conducted cleanup campaigns in the Himalayas, including the Everest Protection Campaign in 2011, which managed 8.1 tons of waste. The association has also led initiatives such as the Cabinet Meeting at Everest Base Camp and a climate march during COP 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, according to the press release issued by the association.
Recognizing its contributions, Nepal's Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has integrated the association as a technical wing. The Department of Tourism assigns record-holding Everest climbers as liaison officers for Himalayan expeditions based on the association's recommendations. The department also collaborates with the association for climbing permits and medal distribution while maintaining climbers' financial records, the release further stated.
