Yeti Airlines starts Lukla campaign Yeti Airlines launched a campaign to lend a helping hand to clean up Lukla, the gateway to the world’s highest peak Mt Everest, this spring, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. A large number of trekkers and mountain lovers from around the world visit the Khumbu region through Lukla each year. “In order to lessen the environmental impact to this region from tourism, Yeti Airlines has decided to remove as many empty beer bottles from this area as possible. As the beer bottles are neither bio-degradable nor can they be recycled properly in the Khumbu region, the best alternate is to remove them to Kathmandu where they can be properly recycled, states a press note.
